Isaiah 6:9&10 says,
"And he said, 'Go, and say to this people:
Keep on hearing, but do not understand;
keep on seeing, but do not perceive.
Make the heart of this people dull,
and their ears heavy,
and blind their eyes;
lest they see with their eyes,
and hear with their ears,
and understand with their hearts,
and turn and be healed.'"
When I joined the military we were sent to basic training. In this training they broke us down and built us back up to exactly what they wanted us to be. They wanted men and women who would follow orders and carry out duties for military campaigns. Soldiers we became.
This passage above shows God telling Isaiah to go tell his people that they needed their hearts dulled, ears closed, an eyes shut. This needed to happen in order for his people to be able to see, hear, and feel spiritual instructions.
God, give us ears to hear, eyes to see, and hearts to love your ways.
Break us down and build us up to what you want us to be.
