In our striving for super spirituality we cling to the idea that we will worry about nothing. Concern is another word for worry that helps us think that we are maintaining our faith in God being in control.
Jesus says, "Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?" (Matt. 6:25)
I have to confess that sometimes I am concerned about my boys when they are not with me. I am concerned sometimes when bills are due and the money is short. I am concerned about my brother who is going to have surgery.
I AM CONCERNED ABOUT PEOPLE WHO DO NOT KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT JESUS.
All Christians would say they feel the same about people knowing the truth, but where are the citizens of the kingdom of God that are sharing the truth? Is there really a concern for the eternal lives of our friends and loved ones?
Jesus said do not worry about your life. His concern for others and lack of concern for his own life caused him to go all the way to the cross. What are you concerned about? How far will you go for others to know the one thing that matters for their eternal life? Can you go all...the...way?
Worry about the future is also addressed by Jesus in the same chapter of Matthew. He says, "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.? (Matt. 6:34)
This lesson came to the doorstep of MCB. Knowing that everything is God's we would think we never worry about money to do kingdom work. One would think we would step out on faith and reach the world for Him. Our future is victory in Christ. We...are...going...all...the...way!
God proved that He will provide by sending someone by our church to give us a gift. This person is not a member of the church nor known by anyone in the church. She came in after the mid-week Bible study and slipped me an envelope and said she wanted to give the church a gift. She left and when I opened the envelope it was a gift of $10.000.00.
Are you worried or are you willing to risk everything for His will?
Do you believe He will provide everything needed for His kingdom work?
It's not about our lives. It is about His will.
Nice article - and what a wonderful gift! God is working in your church!
